Задание 1

1. What are the different aspects of journalism? Different aspects, or media, of journalism include print, broadcast media and Web journalism.
2. What skills do these aspects require? Journalists should know how to run a camera, to record video, to take pictures, to write stories for newspapers,
3. What is convergence? It is a process of merging, integrating information and communication technologies into a single information resource.

Since content is created by people and not some stoic, perfectly impartial, and unbiased entity, there will inevitably be those journalists that will act selfishly and impede the divulgence of the truth. Through this powerful platform these anti-journalistic pursuits can reach a wide number of people. With such an opportunity, some might use it to leverage human emotions that elicit strong reactions, for the purpose of benefitting themselves and their publication. And it’s precisely because of the influential nature of journalism that we need good journalists.

A good journalist is a watchdog. Though certain misguided journalists may divert from reality for selfishly prosperous reasons, those in powerful positions in society attempt to cover the truth also. As such we need good journalists that will act boldly as watchdogs, exposing injustice, corruption, and poor decision making on the part of leaders. Those who seek to take advantage of their position at the expense of those they directly impact will continue to do so until they are revealed. A good journalist acknowledges their responsibility to citizens. A good journalist promotes public discussion

The news is called news for a reason. A good journalist provides credibility and expertise.

A journalist relies on facts and evidence, not on emotions while working on a story. An ideal journalist should be observant and possess strong analytical skills to assess a situation if there is something more to it. An ideal journalist should also know how to take control of a situation if the interview goes wrong. Journalists should be proficient in English and be well-versed to file a story that would attract the target audience.

A Journalist Must Have Following FIVE major Qualities and Skills to be Successful

Writing & Story Telling Skills: Writing has to be your passion. You can develop this skill from writing summaries of articles published in reputed newspapers. Precis Writing also improves vocabulary and grammar. Stories are about people, their opinion, challenges and their lived experience. You may be required to go deeper and investigate. The mantra is here to be honest and not sensationalize.

Digital Skills: You have to understands and have skills to use internet to the maximum advantage for journalism. Internet is useful for verification, editing, and extra-data and scholarly information.

Networking Skills: You have to have a Good Network of Journalists. A network is a great platform to share, care and learn. Here is also to stand for each other.

Soft Skills and Source Creation Skills: The way you behave with others, others behaves like that with you. People skills is important quality to maintain good relationships with everyone. This is especially important to create sources and more important to protect your sources.

Do Good Skills: You have to have the Passion to be a Change Agent. There are many things happening around the world that needs to be reported and authorities need to be asked questions. Be a Middle Man for Grievance Redressal. Work to better the system and the Lived Experience of people and contribute to build a better society for our next generation.

I think that Andrey Malahov, Vladinir Pozner and Nina Kandelaki are the examples of successful journalists in Russia.

-dedication — the willingness to give a lot of time and energy to something because it is important

— stress resistance — the act of fighting against stress that is attacking you, or refusing to accept stress

-flexibility and adaptability  — the ability to change or be changed easily according to the situation

-critical thinking skills  — analyzing abilities

-the ability to keep listeners on their toes and updated – the ability to intrigue listeners

— intellectual curiosity — an eager wish to know or learn about something

— a sense of humor and the ability to improvise – to have humour and the ability to be interesting for people

— having an understandable accent and a polished speech – to have a good speech

-being an excellent interlocutor – to be  involved in a conversation and who is representing someone else

being a good team worker – to be able to work in a team

-being good at troubleshooting — discovering why something does not work effectively and making suggestions about how to improve it
