What is a Manager?

           A number of different terms are often used instead of the term «manager», including «director», «administrator» and «president». The term «manager» is used more frequently in profit-making organizations, while the others are used more widely in government and non-profit organizations such as universities, hospitals and social work agencies.

So, whom do we call a «manager»?

               In its broad meaning the term «managers» applies to the people who are responsible for making and carrying out decisions within a certain system. A personnel manager directly supervises people in an organization. Financial manager is a person who is responsible for finance. Sales manager is responsible for selling of goods.

Almost everything a manager does involves decision-making. When a problem exists a manager has to make a decision to solve it. In decision-making there is always some uncertainty and risk.

Management is a variety of specific activities. Management is a function of planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and controlling. Any managerial system, at any managerial level, is characterized in terms of these general functions.

 Managing is a responsible and hard job. There is a lot to be done and relatively little time to do it. In all types of organizations managerial efficiency depends on manager’s direct personal relationships, hard work on a variety of activities and preference for active tasks.

The characteristics of management often vary according to national culture, which can determine how managers are trained, how they lead people and how they approach their jobs.

The amount of responsibility of any individual in a company depends on the position that he or she occupies in its hierarchy. Managers, for example, are responsible for leading the people directly under them, who are called subordinates. To do this successfully, they must use their authority, which is the right to take decisions and give orders. Managers often delegate authority. This means that employees at lower levels in the company hierarchy can use their initiative, that is make decisions without asking their manager.

 Answer the questions:

 2.What concrete activities a production manager (financial manager, personnel manager, marketing manager) is responsible for? A marketing manager is responsible for managing the promotion and positioning of a brand or the products and services that a company sells. Financial managers are responsible for the financial health of an organization. A Personnel manager is responsible for recruiting and hiring. Marketing managers are responsible for developing, implementing and executing strategic marketing plans for an entire organization (or lines of business and brands within an organization) in order to attract potential customers and retain existing ones.

 3.What is the difference between sales management and marketing management? Marketing management focuses on market needs while sales management primarily deals with the needs of the organization. Marketing management includes all activities which facilitate the flow of goods to the buyer like advertising, sales, research, customer satisfaction, after-sales service, etc. Sales management is a business discipline which is focused on the practical application of sales techniques and the management of a firm’s sales operations.

4.What means to delegate authority? Delegation of authority is the process of transferring responsibility for a task to another employee. As a manager, you can typically transfer responsibility to any of your direct team members. That employee may then decide to delegate some of those responsibilities among their team members if necessary.

Home, sweet home.

I think that a house is a small world where a person lives according to his own rules. It is a place where you feel comfortable, warm and reliable. And I believe that it is not the size of the place where you live that matters, but how you feel about it. And if your home is not only a building for you, but also a place that you can call home, that means that you want to stay there as long as possible, and this is the place where you always want to return.

The importance of home is reflected in the languages ​​of all nations: we say «East or West, but home is better»; the English say «My home is my castle.» Home is a place that awakens the most pleasant feelings and emotions in the soul of every person. There is no better place for me than my home.

 

I’m sure a person’s home is as much a reflection of his personality as the clothes he wears, the food he eats, the books he reads and the friends he spends his time with. The house reflects the lifestyle and habits of its owner.

 

I adore my home, I love to be there, because it is always filled with happiness and joy. After the first few minutes in our apartment, you can feel all the hospitality and friendliness of this place. Our apartment is very warm and cozy, so everyone feels at home. This is the place where I wake up every morning with the refreshing smell of coffee from the kitchen and where every day of my life begins, which is why it is so important to me.

 

My home, my sweet home … Sometimes, after long travels, I return home like a child returning to his mother. I love every corner and every thing in my apartment. «My home is my fortress», this is my territory, a place where I feel good and comfortable. And nobody can bother me here.
