Police have been looking for an eight-year old boy who tried to hold up a sweet shop with a gun, writes Dave Wright.

The boy threw a carrier bag at a shopkeeper and ordered her to fill it up. “I don’t know whether he wanted me to fill the bag with sweets or money”, said the shopkeeper. “I’m not sure if the gun was real or not, but I don’t think it was the toy gun”. The boy went into the shop and bought a bar of chocolate for 25 p. “He gave me a 50 p piece and as I gave him his change a man came in. The boy waited until the man went. Then he threw the plastic carrier bag at me, pointed the gun at me and said: “Put everything in”.
