THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT

          The British Government consists of the Prime Minister and other ministers, all of whom are collectively responsible¹ ПРИЛАГАТЕЛЬНОЕ for every part of the Government’s administration. All the members are appointed², ПРИЧАСТИЕ formally by the Queen, but she makes the appointment entirely³ on the Prime Minister’s advice. The Prime Minister may also require them to resign⁴. ГЛАГОЛ

              All the ministers must be members of either the House of Commons or the House of Lords, and the minister may speak only in the House of which he is a member.

              The bodies of government in the United Kingdom are: the legislature, the executive and the judiciary. The legislature, the supreme authority⁵ СУЩЕСТВИТЕЛЬНОЕ of the country, consists of the Queen and the Parliament. The executive includes the Cabinet and other ministers of the Crown; Government departments, most of them under the control of ministers and all staffed⁶ ПРИЧАСТИЕ by civil servants⁷; СУЩЕСТВИТЕЛЬНОЕ local authorities and statutory boards⁸.               The Cabinet consists of the heads of the most important Departments together with a few ministers without departments. The Prime Minister decides which ministers will be included, but there are some, like the. Foreign Secretary, whom he could not easily leave out. The Cabinet as such is not recognized by any formal law, and has no formal powers but only real powers.

              The judiciary determines common law and interprets⁹ ГЛАГОЛ statutes.

          The structure of the Government is frequently changed as new departments set up or existing¹⁰ ПРИЧАСТИЕ departments are merged.
