I am a second year student of Omsk State Technical University which has got seven faculties and seven institutes. I entered the Energy Institute, as I got interested in electrical engineering at school. But you can choose any other faculty or institute if your interests are in the other field of science or technology.

              The Energy institute trains specialists for different branches of industry and research laboratories. The main majors of the institute are: electrical power engineering and electric power supply; heat and power engineering; electronics and microelectronics; information measurement systems etc. My future major is «Power supply of industrial enterprises».

              Students of our major have an opportunity to get a bachelor’s degree and an engineer qualification. Most of the students conclude labor contracts with the employers during their study at the University. The department was organized in 1964 by the doctor of technical sciences, professor Starostin Vladimir Ivanovich.

Today there are some scientific-research laboratories at the department: electric drive and control systems laboratory, electro technical laboratory, designing systems of power supply laboratory.

              The laboratories are equipped with machines, applied currently in industry, and the unique high-voltage installations, which have no analogue in our region.

The department uses new software, both the common and developed by specialists of the faculty, to provide more competent education process.

          The unique sixteen-channeled measuring and computing complex “OMSK-M” was developed at the department. The department has contacts with the largest regional enterprises to train high-qualified specialists, raise the quality of knowledge and improve the manufacture technologies. The graduates of our faculty work at designing institutes, big power stations, and power systems in Siberia and all our great country.

Я студент второго курса Омского государственного технического университета, где есть семь факультетов и семь институтов. Я поступил в Энергетический институт, так как в школе увлекся электротехникой. Но можно выбрать любой другой факультет или институт, если ваши интересы лежат в другой области науки или техники.

Энергетический институт готовит специалистов для различных отраслей промышленности и научно-исследовательских лабораторий. Основными специальностями института являются: электроэнергетика и электроснабжение; теплоэнергетика; электроника и микроэлектроника; информационно-измерительные системы и др. Моя будущая специальность «Электроснабжение промышленных предприятий».

Студенты нашей специальности имеют возможность получить степень бакалавра и квалификацию инженера. Большинство студентов заключают трудовые договоры с работодателями во время обучения в университете. Кафедра организована в 1964 году доктором технических наук, профессором Старостиным Владимиром Ивановичем.

На сегодняшний день на кафедре функционируют научно-исследовательские лаборатории: лаборатория электропривода и систем управления, электротехническая лаборатория, лаборатория проектирования систем электроснабжения.

Лаборатории оснащены машинами, применяемыми в настоящее время в промышленности, и уникальными высоковольтными установками, не имеющими аналогов в нашем регионе.

Кафедра использует новое программное обеспечение, как обычное, так и разработанное специалистами факультета, для обеспечения более грамотного учебного процесса.

На кафедре разработан уникальный шестнадцатиканальный измерительно-вычислительный комплекс «ОМСК-М». Кафедра наладила контакты с крупнейшими предприятиями региона для подготовки высококвалифицированных специалистов, повышения качества знаний и совершенствования технологий производства. Выпускники нашего факультета работают в проектных институтах, крупных электростанциях и энергосистемах Сибири и всей нашей великой страны.
