Good afternoon! In July 2019 I graduated from the Undergraduate of Institute of Justice. Now I am a first-year student of extra-mural course at the Institute of Master and Postgraduate Education at the Saratov State Law Academy.

I study on the master’s program “Lawyer in the Human Resources Directorate”. The training on this program is provided at the Labor Law Department. This program is very topical nowadays, because under the development of an innovative economy and digitalization, new specialists are required, such as lawyers in the field of the Human Resources Directorate. Lawyers in the field of Labor Law are required to be creative and be ready to cooperate with specialists in different intellectual fields and with artificial intelligence systems.

According to statistics, almost every third worker faces labor problems nowadays. The main reason for this is that work takes up a large part of our life. Violations in the field of labor legislation today are quite common not only from an employer, but also from an employee. For example, a sufficiently frequent abusing act of an employer is the unlawful dismissal of an employee without sufficient justification, discrimination in hiring, failure to give benefits and guarantees, late payment of wages.

As an abusing act of rights from an employee may be non-disclosure of temporary incapacity of labour at the time of his dismissal from work, withholding information from an employer while downsizing about the fact of pregnancy. A lawyer is necessary when drawing or examining employment agreement, other internal documents of an organization that regulate labor discipline at an enterprise, as well as in case of any situations connected with employment relations.

A vocational dispute in court, regardless of its nature and difficulty, always includes professional lawyer. Thus, in the field of labor law, dozens of different questions can arise, and they cannot be resolved without a qualified lawyer.

The central place in the master’s program is investigation of labor law in close interdisciplinary cooperation with a subject mastery of related legal and not only legal disciplines. In the first semester, we studied the following disciplines: Philosophy of Law, Comparative Law, History and Methodology of Legal Science, and Theory and Practice of Scientific Research. In the second semester, we studied more specific subjects that are directly connected with our master’s program — Protection as a type of legal activity, Legal regulation of labor of certain categories of employees, as well as English, History of legal and political doctrines, Theory and practice of argumentation and Psychology and pedagogy of higher school.

In the next semesters we are going to study International and Comparative Labor Law, Corporate Labor Law, Modern Approaches to the Organization of Personnel Labor, Management, Government Supervision (Control) of Compliance with Employment Law. After graduating from a magistracy, I have a great choice for further employment. I will be able to work in executive bodies, in recruiting agencies (HR), be a mediator and representative in courts of general jurisdiction, a corporate lawyer, or work in an agency for providing staff.

After magistracy I am going to enter postgraduate program in the same specialty, since I really like Labor Law. I want to become a teacher and share my knowledge with students of the academy.
