Apple removes customer reviews from online stores

The computer giant Apple has removed all customer reviews from several of its online Apple stores. The reviews section was a useful way for customers to leave feedback for other people about Apple’s products. The reviews section on the Apple Store began disappearing last week. Apple has removed the «Ratings and Reviews» section of its online stores across the world. The reviews pages have gone from the stores in the USA, UK and Australia. This means that anyone in those countries wanting to find reviews on Apple products will have to visit other websites. Apple has not yet commented on its decision to remove the ratings and reviews section, so nobody knows why they have taken this action.

The website pcmag.com speculated that the removal could have been a mistake, but then it said the removal was part of a new Apple policy. It said: «Clearly, Apple has decided its online store is better without customer feedback for some reason. Alternatively, the customer feedback system is being overhauled.» PC Mag said Apple used to be very open and allow all kinds of comments, including very negative reviews. It said: «Apple wasn’t shy about leaving extremely negative reviews and ratings up on its store in the past». It added: «We’re also heading into the busiest shopping period of the year, and Apple online store customers have lost an important source of information when deciding what to buy.»

I think that the reviews section is a useful way for customers to leave feedback for other people about Apple’s products.

As for Apple, I know the following. First, the foundation. It was based in Cupertino, California. The founders of the company were Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. Apple’s first «offices» was the garage of Jobs’ parents. The company’s first product was the Apple I, which was just a motherboard with a processor and some memory, intended for hobbyists. Customers had to build their own case and add their own keyboard and monitor, as seen in the picture. It sold for $666.66 — seriously. However, the Apple I was invented by Wozniak, who also hand-built every kit. Here, you can see his hand-drawn design diagrams for the Apple I computer.

Now, let‘s look at our present activity. The company designs and manufactures hard ware products: the Macintosh line of computers, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. iPad iPhone iPod. It specializes in Apple software: the Mac OS X operating system; the iTunes media browser; the iLife suite of multimedia and creativity software; the iWork suite of productivity software etc. It has annual sales of more than $ 65,23 billion. The company’s profit is about $ 26 billion. As of July 2011, the company operates 357 retail stores in ten countries, and an online store where hardware and software products are sold. It employs a total of 49,400 full time employees.

I think that customer reviews are very important, because they help to choose a good product. People can get reviews on Apple products now only asking other people who bought these products. I think that online stores better than real stores, because it is convenient to choose a product when you are at home.

I would like to ask Apple when there will be a possibility to leave any review on the website. When I buy a product I always leave a review, because I think that people should know about a good or a bad product.

I know that Apple is going to innovate in some new key areas outside of what we see them competing in now. Apple, unlike other companies, works a lot behind the scenes to try to release a more complete product. It’s not a better way of doing things, just different. As a result though, people often assume Apple isn’t working on things that it is, because they do it more privately. From AR, to cars, to medicine (which I think is far bigger than anyone realizes), Apple is going to be dabbling in a lot of things that we don’t really think about now, and a few things that we don’t even imagine now.
