Family is the most important thing in a person’s life. In the family, you can find love and support, as well as share your love and support someone. Of course, the concept of family has changed. With each generation, this social institution undergoes various metamorphoses.

In modern families, it is customary for both spouses to work. If earlier it was considered normal that the husband is the breadwinner of the family, and the woman is the keeper of the hearth, now many women will not agree to such a scenario.

Modern girls want to be independent, courageous, resolute and do not want to depend financially on their spouse. Many modern wives refuse to lead a life on their own and ask for an au pair. Some men do not like it, but some themselves believe that cleaning services are modern and necessary for everyone.

Sometimes there is such a thing that a woman is the breadwinner of the family, and a man is the keeper of the hearth. Now housewife husbands do not surprise anyone. Sometimes in such a situation a woman may forget that she is a woman. She does not have enough physical and moral strength for tenderness, affection, creating comfort, cooking.

Modern families live separately from the parents of the husband and the parents of the wife. Multigenerational families have become a rarity. Young spouses strive in every possible way to get separate housing, so families take out mortgages, save money, and work hard. This causes stress and fatigue, so there is no time left for household chores, communication, caring for each other.

Among modern families there are many large families, but there are families with an only child or with two children. Many women do not want to rush into childbearing. They want to first build a career and achieve heights. Also, many women think that in the modern world a child is very expensive, so they push their husbands to save. Also of great importance is the issue of separate housing. Not every family decides to have a child in a rented apartment.

In conclusion, we can say that it is impossible to give a clear definition of the modern family. Families are different regardless of the time where a person lives. Happiness and unhappiness does not depend on material wealth and era. This is an internal state, which is influenced by the person himself and the people around him. The family plays an important role in the self-awareness of the individual. It is this social institution that influences whether a person will be happy or not.

Практикум №2. Do you agree or disagree with the statement: It is wrong to tell a lie.

A lie is the intentional transmission of information in order to create or maintain in another person beliefs that the transmitter himself considers not to be true.

Lies are one of the most terrible things in the world, even though they are interpreted as a deception or a distortion of the truth. Lies spoil the relationship of people to each other and themselves.

Many of us create our image through lies. They deceive people, but people already know everything from them. Even if you are deceiving others, you cannot lie to yourself.

A person in life has loved ones, friends, acquaintances and people who are not pleasant to him. But he has himself, his own individuality, his own perception of the world, which means that if he lies to himself, then he lies to his closest comrade. I believe that the closest friend of any person is himself. In a difficult moment, he will first turn to himself and will look for solutions to the problem in himself. If a person lies to himself, then he does not have a person whom he trusts, because one of the reasons for lying is not trusting others and the desire to seem better than you really are.

I think you need to be honest, at least to yourself. If you deceive people for the sake of image, then any praise does not belong to you, it belongs to a fictional person. Let people love you the way you are, but the real one! Try to be honest, the truth is always better than a lie, «after all, everything secret always becomes clear»!

Lies are the basis of the life of every second person in the world. Lies enter people’s lives in an instant. If a person lied to someone for the first time and for his own benefit, then he may consider that a lie is good and will continue to brazenly deceive people. When you lie point-blank to a person, and he knows the truth, then, after some time, this deceived person will treat you worse: he will stop believing in you, lose interest in you, and then they will stop talking to you at all, knowing how deceitful you are personality.

Dear Angela,

Thanks for your recent letter. I am very glad to hear something new from you. I’m sorry I haven’t written for so long but I’ve been really busy with my younger sister.
You ask me about my first day at school. I saw my friends and teachers. I was very happy to see them again. We have a new pupil in our class. Her name is Alina. She is from Tallinn. I have some new subjects. I have a new teacher in English. She is very nice and kind.

As for me, I prefer going to the country on holidays. Almost every summer I visit my grandparents there. This summer was not an exception. In June I stayed in the country for about a month. There I enjoyed fresh air, pleasant views of the surrounding nature. I helped my grandma and grandpa about home and in the garden. I watered plants and weeded the garden, mowed the long grass.

Besides my grandparents, I have some friends in the country. This summer we went fishing and camping together. It was fun to play ball on the grass! Also we liked lying in the sun and bathing in the river. In the evening we went boating on the lake. We went to the forest and gathered raspberries. It was a real pleasure to stay out of town!

In July I went abroad, namely, to Finland with my parents and a little sister. We were touring by car around the country, so we could see a lot of new places. I had a good time in this country!

In August I stayed in the town reading books, playing football with my friends and preparing for school.

So, I spent my holidays very well and had a good rest!

That’s all for me for today. I have to go to the swimming pool. I go to swimming pool twice a week.

Практикум №4. Write about a film you know.

Maleficent is an American fantasy film. The film was directed by Robert Stromberg and written by Linda Woolverton. The main actros are Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning and Sharlto Copley.

The picture is a remake and spin-off of the 1959 Disney animated film Sleeping Beauty, as well as a free retelling and rethinking of the fairy tale itself. The film is dedicated to Maleficent, the main villain of the original cartoon.

The film premiered on May 28, 2014 in Hollywood. The film was released on May 30 in the USA.

The film received mostly mixed reviews from film critics, but despite this, it was a commercial success, taking in more than $758 million at the international box office.

As a previous production designer, Stromberg sought to balance the use of practical and computer-generated effects. For example, while Maleficent’s horns and facial prosthetics were created by makeup artist Rick Baker, Digital Domain took facial capture of Imelda Staunton, Lesley Manville, and Juno Temple for the three pixies to be generated with high authenticity with the help of special rigging by Disney Research in Zurich. For the visuals, Stromberg wanted to make it «a bit more grounded» and «not too surreal» because it could be distracting from the simplicity of the story. He also regretted not employing bigger sets and allowing actors to work in a more tangible environment, on «real sets with real lights».

The film is about sorceress Maleficent. The young sorceress Maleficent led a secluded life in an enchanted forest, surrounded by fabulous creatures, but one day everything changed. People invaded her world, bringing destruction and chaos with them, and Maleficent had to stand up for her subjects, calling for help from powerful dark forces. In the heat of the fight, Maleficent cast a terrible spell on the king’s newborn daughter, the beautiful Aurora. But, watching how the little princess grows, Maleficent begins to doubt the correctness of her act — after all, perhaps it is Aurora who can breathe new life into the magical forest kingdom.

I liked this film very much. I think that the film is worth seeing. Angelina Jolie’s authentic performance is very impressive.

The upbringing of a person is one of the vital categories in his destiny, which is the basis of the worldview, the key to a happy future for people. Its most important companions are qualities that transform people, make their inner world richer. These include: compassion, kindness, honesty, fortitude and many others. For each of them to have a place in the soul of all people, it is necessary to sincerely desire this.

Education in everyone is laid from childhood. The determining factor is also who participates in this difficult process. With the help of representatives of the adult generation, who are much wiser than their pupils, have experience, the child becomes prepared for any trials encountered on the path of life. All this is possible thanks to their gradual compliance with the moral principles and concepts that exist in society.

My family is my parents and brother. My mom is a doctor and my dad is an engineer, they work very hard. But, despite this, we are a very close-knit family. Parents always try to give my brother and me enough time.

  Mom and dad bring us up quite strictly, but at the same time, my parents are my friends. I always know that I can rely on them. From childhood, my parents taught me to work, I always help my mother in the kitchen, I help my parents in the country. Parents educate us, instilling love for work, respect for elders. They teach us to be honest and purposeful, to be polite and kind. My dad often says that in any situation you have to remain human.

  I try to help raise my seven-year-old brother Artem. So that my mother could rest more often, I myself walk with my brother. Walking with Artem, I tell him that you should always say hello to adults, that it’s ugly to be greedy and offend other children, that we should take care of nature and our smaller brothers. I try to convey to my brother everything that my parents taught me. These are such simple and important truths, which are education.
