Environmental Problems

The word “environment” means everything around us. It is the air, the water, and the land where people, animals and plants live. This notion also includes the way all these things depend on each other. Today the humanity faces quite a number of ecological problems and people are becoming more and more aware of green issues.

Pollution is damage to the environment caused by gases, wastes and chemicals, including pesticides, fertilizers and nuclear wastes. There is some evidence that the holes in the ozone layer are the result of air pollution. The ozone layer itself, which is a layer of gases, is most important because it protects the earth from ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet radiation is harmful to animals and can cause skin cancer in people. It is supposed that the layer is damaged by chemicals, specifically by CFC that are found in some aerosols and refrigerators. You may have seen the words “environmentally friendly” on some of the products. This sign means the product contains few or no poisonous substances.

The biggest polluter today is the car. The number of cars in all countries is constantly growing and therefore there are more and more traffic jams and congestion on the roads the result of which is poor air quality. Traffic is one of the causes of global warming and some types of cancer. 25,000 deaths a year are caused by air pollution and cars produce up to 90% of all carbon monoxide in the atmosphere. The problem of cars is hard to solve as it requires much cooperation from the people. People are recommended to share cars, to use public transport which is more environmentally friendly as it carries more passengers than cars, and to walk short distances.

Another major problem is the destruction of animals’ natural habitats. About half the species of animals and birds of the world live in rainforests which are being cut down at the speed of about 100 acres a minute. This is the reason why 50 species of plants and animals become extinct every day and many more are seriously endangered. The climate of our planet also depends on rainforests which absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. With the forests being destroyed there is more carbon dioxide in the air and the world’s temperature is going up.

This has to do with the problem of global warming – the fact that the earth is getting warmer. When fuels, especially coal, are burnt in order to make electricity, harmful gases are produced. These gases which are called greenhouse gases go up into the earth’s atmosphere and prevent the heat from leaving the earth. Global warming may lead to ice melting and sea levels rising which will cause serious floodings. Other parts of the world will have less rain and could be turned into deserts.

So what alternatives do we have? One thing is to start using renewable energy resources such as wind, wave and solar power which are much cleaner than oil and coal. Another way to help environment is recycling. Glass, paper, plastic and cans can be recycled and used for the second time. As consumers we could choose to buy green products such as organic food stuffs, recycled paper and wood from sustainable sources. Still another step is to join environmental groups which inform people about ecology situation and organize protests in the attempt to make government change their policy in relation to green issues.

But do not think that speech therapists «ride like cheese in butter» and have no problems. There are also disadvantages in their work. The main disadvantage of the speech therapist profession is the huge expenditure of emotional and physical strength. Quite often, a speech therapist has to act in the role of a psychotherapist, ready not only to listen, but also to empathize.

Another obvious drawback of this profession, many speech therapists call the need to maintain a huge amount of various documentation (especially if the specialist works in a government institution). At the same time, «paper» work, as a rule, is not included in the main working time, which is why specialists have to spend their free time on «scribbling».

Well, and most importantly, a speech therapist can never be completely sure of the success of his work, since a lot depends not only on the level of his professionalism, but also on the desire and efficiency of the patient himself.

Indeed, the modern rhythm of life requires constant professional growth from a speech therapist, a non-standard, creative attitude to work, and one hundred percent dedication. The professional experience of a speech therapist teacher guarantees him a high level of professional qualification activity in different teams, social groups — pupils and their parents, pupils, students, colleagues.

The profession of a speech therapist includes many areas of professional, business competence: this is pedagogical diagnostics and counseling, and preventive work, and special pedagogical education. Visual information must be made bright, understandable, accessible, prompting for action. It is here that innovative activity manifests itself, which consists in the selection of non-standard methods, the use of information technologies, and foreign communication practice.

Only the work of a speech therapist and parents together makes it possible to achieve maximum results. Parents should always listen to the advice of an experienced speech therapist teacher, because they should know that a whole mechanism has been launched into the work, which consists of integral links: speech therapist teacher — educators — parents. And if at least one link falls out, all the work to eliminate defects will be significantly extended in time.

In practice, a speech therapist teacher has to deal with families with different social status and their specific requirements, however, contact should be found with everyone, which means that a speech therapist teacher must also be a psychologist. Indeed, for some parents and children, full explanation, participation and encouragement is necessary. For others, firmness, perseverance on certain requirements, proof that failure to follow recommendations will make it difficult or delayed to achieve the desired results will become more effective.

Man is a creature that cannot live in isolation from society. Therefore, the ability to correctly express your thoughts, while pronouncing all the sounds, is a natural need for everyone. According to statistics, the number of children who have problems with speaking and writing is growing every year. Ecology, bad habits, lack of live communication with parents, of course, affect the development of the child. Unfortunately, not everyone has problems with speech in distant childhood, causing a lot of inconvenience to an adult. Such people need qualified help from a speech therapist.

I believe that the profession of a speech therapist, like a musical series, rests on three «pillars»: optimism, patience and dedication. It isn’t always easy. In order to bring the child’s articulatory apparatus back to normal, to consolidate his skills of correct sound pronunciation, it is often necessary to use not only all his creative abilities, but also to show patience and perseverance.

 

The success of my work also depends on the use of health-saving technologies. Health-preserving educational technologies are the most significant among all known technologies in terms of their impact on children’s health. They help me at different stages of speech correction work. Children who have speech problems need to develop fine motor skills, they need to be taught to breathe correctly, and to perform articulation exercises. Therefore, I use self-massage, kinesiological exercises, Su-Jok, logo rhythmics, music therapy, and a number of other technologies in my work.

Parents … How important it is to work with them! Sometimes you don’t know who is more difficult: with a child or with his constantly busy mother, a detached dad, an incomprehensible grandmother. In my opinion, it is necessary to cooperate with the whole family and close environment of the baby, because we have a common goal — clean, beautiful, correct, competent speech of our children!

The work of a speech therapist provides various forms of interaction with parents of preschoolers. I organize the work of the club on the topics «Development of fine motor skills», «Development of phonemic perception» and others together with children in the form of workshops, competitions, speech therapy lounges. This allows parents to see the problems in the speech development of their child and in practice to master the techniques and methods of their correction at home.

A child, parents, teachers and I are a team! The team must work in harmony with each other. And we have one goal: to make the child happy by helping him learn to speak, communicate, enjoy every day.

I work as a speech therapist and never cease to rejoice that I have chosen such a profession. Step by step I go to achieve my goal. I feel great joy when I hear the competent and beautiful speech of my pupils. After all, the most memorable moments in my work are the children, whom I helped to overcome speech problems, as well as the grateful words of their parents.

A speech therapist teacher is a wonderful profession that I am proud of! People come to a speech therapist, like a doctor, with their own problems. In this profession, a person who is not inherent in such qualities as: benevolence, patience, purposefulness cannot work in this profession. All children are different, so each child needs to find an individual approach, to find exactly what will be interesting to him.

Many people can envy me, because every working day for me is a holiday! Every day my children and I take small steps on the way to correct, beautiful, competent speech.

The most pleasant and memorable moment of my work is the happy eyes of a child at the moment when it turned out to pronounce a difficult sound. How nice it is to see how a child’s speech is transformed. And how he and his parents rejoice at our joint success. And how great that it was I who helped him in this!

For all this, I really love my job. Of course, difficulties also arise, but then it only becomes more interesting to find a new way out of the current situation. There is always a place for creativity and art in my work. I try to make each lesson special, so I like to use my own manuals. And children like them even more than shop ones!

At school, I work not only with children with pronunciation, reading and writing disorders, but also with children who have disabilities. These are special children. They see the world in their own way, not like us. Even the most ordinary activities that many of us perform without much effort can cause difficulties for children with disabilities. The task of a speech therapist in working with such children is to teach them to communicate and interact with the world around them, to develop their creative abilities.

A speech therapist teacher is a wonderful profession that brings extremely joy not only to oneself, but also to children and their parents. Touching the fate of children, influencing their future, rejoicing at the success of my students — I am happy that I have chosen this path.

The specifics of the work are such that, due to my professional activity, I have to work not only with children who have reading and writing disorders, my contingent is also children who have disabilities. These are special children. They have their own world, their own understanding of everything that ordinary people look at as usual. And the most important task of a speech therapist in working with such children is to open the door to this world, carefully introduce, teach communication, the perception of oneself in this world, teach them to be independent, cultivate spiritual and moral qualities in them, teach the elementary rules of self-service, develop in them creativity. After all, if a child is not like everyone else, this does not mean that he is bad!

I think a lot about them sometimes, I don’t know if it’s right or not. I think why the Lord made them suffer, because they are just children! Probably, we are not given to understand this! I would like to make them at least a little happier. Therefore, I give everyone a piece of my heart. I try to turn every meeting with them into a small holiday, a game. And they, too, do not remain in debt, in return they give me their Love! They often call, ask for advice, ask about my health, worry if I love them as before!

Democratization and integration processes that have affected our country in the past 20 years, to my deep regret, have not spared the linguistic norms of my native speech. Even TV presenters and journalists, in pursuit of a rating, out of a false desire “to be closer to the people”, allow such verbal exercises that have long been considered bad form in a decent society. Can’t they understand a stable logical chain: «slovenliness» in the selection of linguistic means will inevitably lead to «slovenliness» of thoughts, and then, as a result, to «slovenliness» of actions. A well-formed native speech will give rise to kind and bright thoughts. Speech therapists are sometimes accused of some snobbery, of elitism among teachers. I will not discuss this, if this is observed among some of my colleagues, let it remain on their conscience. But, dear teachers, don’t you take for excessive snobbery the proudly straightened back of a man with a flag in his hands and with the inscription on it: “I am against the demoralization of the language! I am for the purity of my native speech ?! »

Они помогают мне на разных этапах работы по коррекции речи. Детям, имеющим проблемы с речью, необходимо развивать мелкую моторику, их нужно научить правильно дышать, выполнять артикуляционные упражнения. Поэтому в своей работе я использую самомассаж, кинезиологические упражнения, су-джок, ритмику логотипов, музыкальную терапию и ряд других технологий.

Работа логопеда предусматривает различные формы взаимодействия с родителями дошкольников. Чтобы побудить родителей сознательно работать над общим и речевым развитием ребенка, я организовала логопедический клуб для родителей дошкольников «Домашний логопед». Организовываю работу клуба по темам «Развитие мелкой моторики», «Развитие фонематического восприятия» и другим вместе с детьми в виде мастер-классов, конкурсов, логопедических кабинетов. Это позволяет родителям увидеть проблемы в речевом развитии своего ребенка и на практике освоить приемы и методы их исправления в домашних условиях.

Принцип взаимодействия с родителями: «Родитель не гость, а полноценный член коллектива детского сада».

Ребенок, родители, учителя и я — команда! Команды должны работать в гармонии друг с другом. И цель у нас одна: сделать ребенка счастливым, помогая ему научиться говорить, общаться, получать удовольствие от каждого дня.

Я работаю логопедом и не перестаю радоваться, что выбрала такую ​​профессию. Шаг за шагом иду к своей цели. Я испытываю огромную радость, когда слышу грамотную и красивую речь своих воспитанников. Даже телеведущие и журналисты в погоне за рейтингом из ложного желания «быть ближе к народу» допускают такие словесные упражнения, которые долгое время считались дурным тоном в приличном обществе. Неужели они не понимают устойчивой логической цепочки: «неряшливость» в выборе языковых средств неизбежно приведет к «неряшливости» мыслей, а затем, как следствие, «неряшливости» действий. Грамотно сформированная родная речь вызовет добрые и светлые мысли. (Как фрак не позволит сутулиться, так и красивая грамотная речь не допустит появления дурных мыслей)

 

Логопедов иногда обвиняют в снобизме, в элитарности учителей. Я не буду это обсуждать, если это наблюдается у некоторых моих коллег, пусть это останется на их совести. Но, дорогие учителя, не принимайте за излишний снобизм гордо выпрямленную спину человека с флагом в руках и надписью на нем: «Я против деморализации языка! Я за чистоту родной речи ?! »
