My name is Peter. I live in the suburbs of Liverpool with my family. Most people believe we are rich because we live in a big house. But our family seems to be like any other one. Have a look: Maggy, my wife, likes cooking. She enjoys being in the kitchen with her friends. At the moment she is making a cake and you can’t talk to her. What really worries her is our daughter, who prefers to chat in front of her computer instead of cooking with her. VI  Write an essay about celebrating holidays and special occasions  using present simple and present continuous (200-250 words).

Holidays help us to be happy and friendly.

There are many different holidays in Russia: interesting and funny, patriotic and dedicated to any historical event. For example in Russia there are such holidays as the Women’s day, the Victory Day, the Independent Day, the April’s Fool’s day, and many other. Each holiday is beautiful and lovely.

I like all holidays. But most of all I like the New Year. The people all over the world welcome the New Year. To my mind it is the most interesting holiday. But in different countries the New Year is celebrated on different days, for example it can be celebrated on the 1st of September.

There are lots of New Year traditions in Russia. Children always wait for Father Frost who gives them a present. Many people consider a New Year to be a family holiday. But most of the young prefer to spend the New Year in the companies of their friends. As for me I prefer to see the New Year with my family, because I think I must spend as much time as possible with them. To my mind it is a family holiday.

This year we are going to spend this holiday together, too.
