I fully agree with the statement: «The best government is that which rules as little as possible.» Government is at best only a means, but most governments are usually, and sometimes all of them, means ineffective.

When the people, having received power in their hands, transfers it to the majority and for a long time allows it to rule, this happens not because it rules most justly, and not because it seems most just in relation to the minority. There is a reason for this. It is physically stronger.

However, a government ruled by the majority cannot be based on justice, even in the limited sense in which people understand it. I believe that we should be people first, and then subjects of the government. It is desirable to cultivate respect not so much for the law, but for justice.

In addition, the only obligation that a person has the right to take on is the obligation to always do what seems right to him. The law has never made people any more just. It is out of respect for him that even decent people daily become instruments of injustice.

Moreover, I believe that the government has only those rights to me that I recognize for it. Progress from absolute to limited monarchy, and from it to democracy, brings us closer to true respect for the individual. Even the Chinese philosopher understood that the individual is the foundation of an empire. A truly free and enlightened state is not possible until it recognizes in the individual a higher and independent power, the source of all his own power and authority, and treats it accordingly.

To sum up, the best society is one where the citizens themselves can directly make government decisions. All power should be in the hands of citizens who can concretely solve the pressing issue. They don’t need any representative. Citizens themselves know what they want, which means they can make the best decision. In the future, I would like to see a state that can finally afford to be fair to all people and respect the personality of everyone.
